Explanation : The Geological Survey of India has
identified 350 geothermal energy locations
in the country. The most promising of these
is in Puga valley of Ladakh. The estimated
potential for geothermal energy in India is
about 10000 MW or 10 GW. Geothermal
energy is heat derived within the sub-
surface of the earth. Water and/or steam
carry the geothermal energy to the Earth's
surface. Depending on its characteristics,
geothermal energy can be used for heating
and cooling purposes or be harnessed to
generate clean electricity.
Explanation : The Kyoto Protocol was adopted on
Dec. 11, 1997, and entered into force on
Feb. 16, 2005. It is the only agreement
to have emerged from the UNFCCC
process that imposed binding limits on the
emission ofGHGs. Under the Protocol, 37
industrialized countries and the countries
in the European Connnunity committed
themselves to binding targets for GHG
emissions for the first compliance period
from 2008 to 2012.
Explanation : Geographical information System (GIS)
is a computer based system that stores
and, manipulates data that are viewed
from a geographical point or reference. A
geographic information system (GIS) is a
framework for gathering, managing, and
analyzing data.
Explanation : Room deodorizers or Air fresheners, even
ones called green and organic, can emit
potentially hazardous chemicals. Perfumes
and similar products contain chemicals
like phthalates. Air fresheners contain
chemicals like fonnaldehyde, benzene and
VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) that
cause headache, asthma and even cancer in
some cases.
Explanation : The storage devices called as Hard disk
can be used to store maximum amount of
data. Hard disk is an electro mechanical
information stockpiling gadget that has
attractive capacity to store and recover
computerized data utilizing at least one
unbending quickly turning circles covered
with attractive material.
