Explanation : A search engine is a web-based tool that
enables users to locate information on the
World Wide Web. Popular examples of search
engines are Google, Yahoo!, and MSN search.
It utilizes automated software applications
(referred to as robots, bots, or spiders) that
travel along the Web, following links from
page to page, site to site.
Explanation : CPU is the abbreviation for central processing
unit. The CPU is the brains of the computer
where most calculations take place. In terms
of computing power, the CPU is the most
important element of a computer system.
Central processing units have two primary
components;
(i) The arithmetic logic unit (ALU) is the CPU
component that performs the processor's
actual computations. Its circuitry
calculates the addition, subtraction,
multiplication and division equations in
the instructions the control unit passes
to it. The ALU also performs logical
operations that are essential to the control
structures that regulate software flow.
(ii) The control unit (CU) regulates the
processor's operation and the arithmetic
logic unit that actually crunches numbers
and compares values. However, these
two clusters of transistors still rely on
memory resources in the computer the
CPU powers in order to function.
Explanation : Ancient Indian Education was for a long time
imparted through the oral lesson, without the
medium of a book. Oral recitation was the
basic medium of imparting knowledge and
was practiced through various methods like
introspection (listening, contemplation and
concentrated contemplation), storytelling,
memorization, critical analysis, practical
study and seminars.
Explanation : Research Promotion Scheme (RPS) Promotes
Research in identified thrust areas of in
Technical Education. RPS is aimed to
create research ambience in the institutes by
promoting research in engineering sciences
and innovations in established and newer
technologies; and to generate Master's and
Doctoral degree candidates to augment the
quality of faculty and research. The limit of
funding is Rs 25 Lakh for project duration
of3 years.
Explanation : Blue Baby Syndrome , or methemogiobinemia,
begins when large amounts of nitrates in water
are ingested by an infant and converted to
nitrite by the digestive system. The nitrite
then reacts with oxyhemoglobin (the oxygen-
carrying blood protein) to form metheglobin,
which cannot carry oxygen.
If a large enough amount of metheglobin is
formed in the blood, body tissues may be
deprived of oxygen, causing the infant to
develop a blue coloration of their mucous
membranes and possibly digestive and
respiratory problems. This condition is also
known as methemoglobinemia. The majority
of cases have occurred when nitrate levels
have been over 100 mg/litre.
