- Explanation : Bhopal Gas Tragedy occurred on the cold wintry night in the early hours of 3 December, 1984. It was estimated that 40 tonnes of Methyl Isocyanate (MIC) gas leakage took place with some other toxic chemicals from the Union Carbide Factory. Thousands of people lost their lives in this disaster. The Chernobyl disaster was a nuclear accident that occurred on Saturday 26 April 1986, at the No.4 nuclear reactor in the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, near the city of Pripyat in the north of the Ukrainian SSR.
