0. Given below are two statements - one is labeled as Assertion (A) and the other is labeled as Reason (R):
Assertion (A): Through on-line teaching a large number of students can be taught by very competent faculty.
Reason (R): On-line teaching helps students in developing critical thinking more than the offline teaching can do.
In the light of the above two statements choose the correct option:

  • Explanation : Online teaching refers to the presentation and learning of courses over the Internet through the explicit use of technology and computer networking systems. Courses can be designed for a handful of enrolled students or can be made open and accessible to a wide variety of participants, such as with a MOOC (Massive Open Online Course). So, Assertion (A) is true. However, only the mode of delivery of the course is different here. There is no difference in the learning gains made by the learner as compared to the conventional classroom mode. So, Reason (R) is false.
