0. Match the following:

Set - ISet -II
(a) First Generation(i) Transistor
(b) Second Generation(ii) VLSI microprocessor
(c) Third Generation(iii) Vacuum tube
(d) Forth Generation(iv) Integrated circuit

Select the correct option from the following:
 (a)(b)(c)(d)
(1)(iii) (iv) (i)(ii)
(2)(iii) (i) (iv)(ii)
(3)(iii) (i) (ii)(iv)
(4)(i) (iii) (iv)(ii)

  • Option : B
  • Explanation : A vacuum tube computer, now termed a first- generation computer, is a computer which uses vacuum tubes for logic circuitry. A second generation computer which is also called transistor computer is a computer which uses discrete transistors instead of vacuum tubes. The computers of third generation used Integrated Circuits (ICs) in place of transistors. A single IC has many transistors, resistors, and capacitors along with the associated circuitry. The period of fourth generation was from 1971-1980. Computers of fourth generation used Very Large Scale Integrated (VLSI) circuits. VLSI circuits have about 5000 transistors.
