Explanation : At Earth Summit that was held in Rio
de Janeiro during 3-14 June 1992, the
international community adopted Agenda
21, an unprecedented global plan of
action for sustainable development.
This conference later came to be called
the Rio Conference. In this conference
three major agreements were adopted that
were Rio Declaration on Environment
and Development, a series of principles
defining the rights and responsibilities of
States, Agenda 21, a global plan of action
to promote sustainable development and
Statement of Forest Principles, a set of
principles to underpin the sustainable
management of forests worldwide.
