Explanation : Intrapersonal communication takes place
within an individual. It has three aspects:
self concept, perception and expectation.
Self-concept (or self-awareness) as well as
perception of the outside world involves
beliefs, values and attitudes that mould
behaviour; while expectations are future-
oriented messages pertaining to long-term
roles and relationships within the family or
society. It happens at three levels/stages:
internal discourse (silent prayer/appreciation,
contemplation, meditation! transcendence);
solo vocal communication; and, solo written communication.
Phatic, intimate and personal are stages in
interpersonal communication.
