1:

In two large populations there are 35 and 30 per cent of fair haired people. Will the difference disappear at 5% level of significance, if samples of 1500 and 1000 are respectively taken from the two populations?

A.

Difference is significant

B.

Significant with condition

C.

Difference is not significant

D.

Significant with error

Answer : A

Explanation :

P1 = 35/100 = 0.35

P2 = 30/100 = 0.30

n1 = 1500, n2 = 1000

P1 - P2 = 0.35 - 0.30

= 0.05

The standard error of difference is –

Hence the difference is significant at 5% level of significance. It is unlikely that the difference will disappear.
